Source: WorldCat: Rāj nighaṇṭuMahācuñcu (महाचुञ्चु) is another name for Bṛhatcuñcu which is a variety of Cuñcu, an unidentified medicinal plant possibly identified with (i) Marsilea dentata Linn., (ii) Marsilea quadrifolia Linn. or (iii) Marsilea minuta Linn., according to verse 4.146-147 of the 13th-century Raj Nighantu or Rājanighaṇṭu. The fourth chapter (śatāhvādi-varga) of this book enumerates eighty varieties of small plants (pṛthu-kṣupa). Together with the names Mahācuñcu and Bṛhatcuñcu, there are a total of seven Sanskrit synonyms identified for this plant.
According to verse 150: “The seeds of Mahācuñcu are pungent and hot. These are indicated in colics, gulma (false abdominal lumps due to wind), abdominal pains, skin disorders, prurtis, itching, leprosy and various affections due to poison”.
