Summary: This study deals with the Warfare and the Military System of the ancient India people as gleaned from the Vedic Literature. References to the theory and practices of the political and administrative system in the ancient times are found scattered throughout literature of the Vedic period, reflecting the social system and cultural aspects of ancient India. The purpose of this work is to study the defensive and offensive systems of the Vedic people, including their army divisions, use of arms and armours, fortification, ethics and other principles related to warfare.
