The English translation of the Sri Bhakti-rasamrta-sindhu verse 2.5.101; a medieval era Sanskrit book, written by Rupa Goswami (fl. 15th century) which represents a devotional (bhakti) masterpiece. In this work Goswami describes the nature and different forms of pure love (rasa) as well as various other topics on Vaishnavism and devotion.

अलौकिक्या प्रकृत्येयं सुदुरूहा रस-स्थितिः ।
यत्र साधारणतया भावाः साधु स्फुरन्त्य् अमी ॥२.५.१०१॥

alaukikyā prakṛtyeyaṃ sudurūhā rasa-sthitiḥ |
yatra sādhāraṇatayā bhāvāḥ sādhu sphuranty amī
||2.5.101||

English translation

“Since the activities of rasa are by nature non-material, they are difficult to understand. The various ratis and other elements create a complete identity

between the emotions of the contemporary devotee with [those of] previous devotees depicted in scripture.”
