This is verse 12.12 of the Jnaneshwari (Bhavartha-Dipika), the English translation of 13th-century Marathi commentary on the Bhagavad-Gita.—The Dnyaneshwari (Jnaneshwari) brings to light the deeper meaning of the Gita which represents the essence of the Vedic Religion. This is verse 12 of the chapter called Bhakti-yoga.

Verse 12.12: “For, worthier is knowledge than practice; more than knowledge is concentred-meditation to be preferred, from concentred—meditation ensures renunciation of actions’ fruits; and following upon such renunciation comes Peace, (141)

Commentary called Jnaneshwari by Jnaneshwar:

Oh Partha, knowledge is more difficult for comprehension than study, while meditation is still more difficult than knowledge. Renunciation of action-fruit is superior to meditation, while the enjoyment of the bliss of the tranquillity of the mind is even more superior. Such is the ascending course, and it is through attainment of these different stages that one can reach the abode of tranquillity (Supreme Bliss).
