Khayer (खयेर) in Nepali refers to the plant Acacia catechu (synonym Senegalia catechu) or “kher” or “catechu” from the Fabaceae or “legume family”. It is is mentioned as one of the “Protected plants of Nepal”. The photo also depicts a Leaf (पात, pat/pāt/pāta/pata), Bark (बोका, boka/bokā), Wood (काठ, kath/kāṭh/kāṭha/katha), a Pod (कोसा, kosa/kosā) and a Seed (विउ, viu).

The word Khayer can also be transliterated as Khayera.
