Source: archive.org: Shiva Purana - English TranslationŚailapatnī (शैलपत्नी) refers to the “wife of the mountain” and is used to describe Menā, according to the Śivapurāṇa 2.3.36 (“The statements of the seven sages”).—Accordingly, after the mountains spoke to Himavat (Himācala): “On hearing the words of Meru and others, Himācala was greatly pleased and Pārvatī laughed within herself. Arundhatī too convinced Menā with reasoned statements and examples from various mythological legends. Then the wife of the mountain (śailapatnī) too was delightedly convinced. She entertained Arundhatī, the sages and the mountain with a grand feast and then took food herself. Then the chief of mountains, freed from wrong notions and grown wise, spoke with palms joined in reverence and mind extremely delighted. [...]”.
