Source: Brill: Śaivism and the Tantric Traditions (philosophy)Saṃvidbāhya (संविद्बाह्य) refers to “(an entity) external to consciousness”, according to the Īśvarapratyabhijñāvivṛtivimarśinī 2.161.—Accordingly, “This [inference of an object particularized by its being external to consciousness] is impossible, since [an entity] external to consciousness (saṃvidbāhya)—[and therefore] unmanifested, even in a dream—cannot be an object of inference, because [such an entity] cannot be the object of a concept”.
Shaiva (शैव, śaiva) or Shaivism (śaivism) represents a tradition of Hinduism worshiping Shiva as the supreme being. Closely related to Shaktism, Shaiva literature includes a range of scriptures, including Tantras, while the root of this tradition may be traced back to the ancient Vedas.
