Puṭaipaṭu (புடைபடு) [puṭaipaṭutal] [puṭai-paṭu] verb < idem. +. transitive To approach; to be near; அணுகுதல். என் னாரமுதைப் புடைபட்டிருப்ப தென்றுகொல்லோ [anuguthal. en naramuthaip pudaipattiruppa thenrugollo] (திருவாசகம் [thiruvasagam] 27, 1). — intransitive

1. To be roomy, spacious; இடம்படுதல். மலைகளைப் புடைபடத் துளைத்து [idambaduthal. malaigalaip pudaipadath thulaithu] (ஈடு-முப்பத்தாறுயிரப்படி [idu-muppatharuyirappadi], 10, 6, 6).

2. To be excessive; மிகுதியாதல். அரசனும் புடைபடக்கவன்று [miguthiyathal. arasanum pudaipadakkavanru] (இறையனாரகப் பொருள் [iraiyanaragap porul] 1, பக். [pag.] 7).
