Prastāravicāra (प्रस्तारविचार) is the name of a text dealing with Sanskrit prosody (chandas) for which no authorship could be traced (also see the “New Catalogus Catalogorum” XIII. p. 127). The Prastāravicāra deals with the presentation of the possible combinations of the syllables, long and short in a particular metre. In the very beginning of the text, the author introduces the trika theory of chandaśśāstra where he defines the eight gaṇas and their respective trika symbols.
