Paṃcamahābhūta (पंचमहाभूत):—The Five Great Elements: Aakasa, Vaayu, Teja, Jala and Prithvi. Ayurvedic doctrine states that all the matter in the universe is composed of these Five. The variety is because of the variation in the combining proportions.
