Source: Wisdom Library: Maha Prajnaparamita SastraLokottarendriya (लोकोत्तरेन्द्रिय) refers to the “five supramundane faculties”, according to the 2nd century Mahāprajñāpāramitāśāstra chapter 40.—Accordingly: [regarding “The noble path indicated by me can lead to exit from the world”]—Some say that this way is two things: the holy concentration and the holy wisdom and that these two things lead to nirvāṇa. [...] Others say that it is four things: the four noble truths. Others say that it is the five supramundane faculties (lokottarendriya). Others say that it is the six elements leading to emancipation. [...]
Mahayana (महायान, mahāyāna) is a major branch of Buddhism focusing on the path of a Bodhisattva (spiritual aspirants/ enlightened beings).
