Kaukkuṭika (कौक्कुटिक).—[kukkuṭa-ṭhak]

1) A poulterer.

2) A mendicant who walks always fixing his eyes on the ground for fear of treading upon worms, insects &c.

3) (Hence) A hypocrite.

Kaukkuṭika (कौक्कुटिक).—m. Kaukkuṭika (कौक्कुटिक).—m.

(-aḥ) 1. A hypocrite. 2. A kind of mendicant, one who does not look far before him, or who proceeds with his eyes fixed upon the ground, for fear of treading upon insects, &c. E. kukkuṭī hypocrisy, or a small part, ṭhak aff.
