kaṭaṇēṃ (कटणें).—v i (kaṭa) To be begrimed or deeply dirtied; to contract or take grime or dirt. 2 To be practised, versed, well exercised and skilled in. 3 To toil, strive, exert one's self strenuously.

kaṭaṇēṃ (कटणें).—v i ( H) To be killed in fight: also to be cut off--a limb &c. in fight. 2 To be cut, in figurative senses gen. e. g. to be reaped--a field: to be retrenched--expenses: to be diminished or cut--wages or pay. kaṭūna karaṇēṃ To perform or do vigorously or strenuously. kaṭūna maraṇēṃ To be cut to pieces in fight; to be cut up. kaṭūna laḍhaṇēṃ To fight so as to slay in heaps; "to perform prodigies of valor."
