Source: Shodhganga: a concise history of Sanskrit Chanda literature (history)Bhagavantadāsa (भगवन्तदास) is the name of a king who patronized Puṇḍarīkaviṭṭhala (16th century): a well known scholar in music as well as in Dharmaśāstra, Alaṅkāraśāstra and chandas. Puṇḍarīkaviṭṭhala was a native of Sāvaṇadurga (Śivagaṅgā) in Karṇāṭaka; migrated to north India. He was patronized by Burhānkhān of Ānandavallī, King Bhagavantadāsa and his son Mādhavasiṃha and Mānasiṃha.
