Amaragaṇḍika (अमरगण्डिक).—Name of a region lying near Gandhamādana, being thirty-one yojanas long and four hundred yojanas broad, according to the Varāhapurāṇa chapter 82. Gandhamādana is one of the seven mountains located in Jambūdvīpa, which is one the seven islands (dvīpa) ruled over by Āgnīdhra, grandson of Svāyambhuva Manu, who was created by Brahmā, who was in turn created by Nārāyaṇa, the unknowable all-pervasive primordial being.
