1) To be practised (as a profession).

2) Fit for or affording a livelihood; आजीव्यांश्चिच्छि- दुर्वृक्षान् (ājīvyāṃścicchi- durvṛkṣān) Bhāgavata 7.2.15.

3) Habitable, fertile; रम्यं पशव्यमाजीव्यम् (ramyaṃ paśavyamājīvyam) Y.1.321; Manusmṛti 7.69.
