He will Appear

Rendered from Tamil by T. G. Aravamuthan (Reprinted from Triveni, March 1928)

so SPAKE THE MOTHER l

Clasping the pillar in yonder court,
You ask, “Where does your/son now sport?”

I know not what may be his haunts.
My womb’s the cavernous lair wherein had lain

The tiger-cub and whence it’s sped. But, hear,
Right on the field of battle he will appear.

l This poem is found in the Pura-nanuru, (86), an anthology about eighteen centuries old. The name of the poet is not known.
