I Walk with the Wind

Jeannine Harrault

I walk with the wind Lightly
Between a star and a song.

O who shall cover my breast with flowers
If the wind dies?
Or hold the silver rain?
The world is falling Lightly
Down the snow
To the gold shadows on the last leaf.
I walk to the white source
And hear her waters lapping.

From her shores they come,
The bitter soldier
The dancer and the lover
Their arms full of destiny.

The raw fruit trembles to be eaten
And the birds are waiting to fly.

O shall cover my breast with flowers
If the wind dies,
The music maker
Who covers me with the earth.
