Sanskrit text, Unicode transliteration and English translation of verse 3.14.468:
घविधौ घश्च संज्ञायामिति सूत्र उदाहृतम् ।
उपादानं प्रयोगेषु तस्यात्यन्तं न विद्यते ॥ ४६८ ॥ghavidhau ghaśca saṃjñāyāmiti sūtra udāhṛtam |
upādānaṃ prayogeṣu tasyātyantaṃ na vidyate || 468 ||468. In the sūtra which teaches the suffix gha, the word saṃjñāyām has been used but it is never found in actual usage.
Commentary
[In P. 3.3.118 where the suffix gha is taught, the word saṃjñāyām is given in order to indicate the condition (upādhi). It means that the suffix gha is added provided that the word so formed is a name. But, in actual usage, it is never mentioned because it is understood without it. Similarly, the word kriyayā is not used in the explanatory sentence.]
