स्वान् स्वान् वात्ंसांस् तथा गावो
रम्भमानान् निरीक्ष्य च
लिहन्त्यो जिह्वयाङ्गानि
पयांसि च ह्य् अपाययन्

svān svān vātṃsāṃs tathā gāvo
rambhamānān nirīkṣya ca
lihantyo jihvayāṅgāni
payāṃsi ca hy apāyayan

svān svān—their own; vātṃsān—calves; tathā—so; gāvaḥthe cows; rambhamānān—mooing; nirīkṣya—seeing; ca—and; lihantyaḥ—licking; jihvayāṅgāni—iwth the tongue; payāṃsi—milk; ca—and; hi—indeed; apāyayan—made drink.

English translation of verse 2.8.8:

Seeing their calves, the cows mooed. They licked the calves with their tongues, and made the calves drink their milk.
