तस्य मुष्टि-प्रहारेण
दूरे शक्रः पपात ह
जानूभ्यां धरणीं स्पृष्ट्वा
गजो ऽपि विह्वलो ऽभवत्
tasya muṣṭi-prahāreṇa
dūre śakraḥ papāta ha
jānūbhyāṃ dharaṇīṃ spṛṣṭvā
gajo 'pi vihvalo 'bhavat
tasya—of him; muṣṭi-prahāreṇa—by the punch; dūre—far away; śakraḥ—
English translation of verse 1.7.47:
Indra; papāta ha—fell; jānūbhyāṃ—with both knees; dharaṇīṃ—the ground;
spṛṣṭvā—touching; gajo—the elephant; api—also; vihvalo—troubled; abhavat—
became.
With that punch Indra fell far away and the elephant was wounded and fell, its knees touching the ground.
