The Chaitanya Bhagavata 1.7.165, English translation, including a commentary (Gaudiya-bhasya). This text is similair to the Caitanya-caritamrita and narrates the pastimes of Lord Caitanya, proclaimed to be the direct incarnation of Krishna (as Bhagavan) This is verse 165 of Adi-khanda chapter 7—“Shri Vishvarupa Takes Sannyasa”.

লাগিল হাঙ্ডীর কালি সর্ব-গৌর-অঙ্গে কনক-পুতলি যেন লেপিযাছে গন্ধে ॥ ১৬৫ ॥
लागिल हाङ्डीर कालि सर्व-गौर-अङ्गे कनक-पुतलि येन लेपियाछे गन्धे ॥ १६५ ॥
lāgila hāṅḍīra kāli sarva-gaura-aṅge kanaka-putali yena lepiyāche gandhe || 165 ||
lagila handira kali sarva-gaura-ange kanaka-putali yena lepiyache gandhe (165)
English translation:
(165) The black soot from those pots decorated Gaura’s limbs, and He appeared like a golden doll smeared with sandalwood pulp mixed with aguru.
Commentary: Gauḍīya-bhāṣya by Śrīla Bhaktisiddhānta Sarasvatī Ṭhākura:
The golden body of Nimāi smeared with the black soot from the clay cooking pots looked like someone had smeared black aguru and sandalwood paste on the limbs of a golden doll.
