The Chaitanya Bhagavata 1.5.59, English translation, including a commentary (Gaudiya-bhasya). This text is similair to the Caitanya-caritamrita and narrates the pastimes of Lord Caitanya, proclaimed to be the direct incarnation of Krishna (as Bhagavan) This is verse 59 of Adi-khanda chapter 5—“Eating the Mendicant Brahmana’s Offerings”.

Bengali text, Devanagari and Unicode transliteration of verse 1.5.59:

ছলে নিজ-তত্ত্ব প্রভু করেন ব্যাখ্যান তথাপি না বুঝে কেহ,—হেন মাযা তান ॥ ৫৯ ॥

छले निज-तत्त्व प्रभु करेन व्याख्यान तथापि ना बुझे केह,—हेन माया तान ॥ ५९ ॥

chale nija-tattva prabhu karena vyākhyāna tathāpi nā bujhe keha,—hena māyā tāna || 59 ||

chale nija-tattva prabhu karena vyakhyana tathapi na bujhe keha,—hena maya tana (59)

English translation:

(59) In this way the Lord revealed His identity while speaking deceptively. But by the influence of His māyā, no one could understand Him.

Commentary: Gauḍīya-bhāṣya by Śrīla Bhaktisiddhānta Sarasvatī Ṭhākura:

The word nija-tattva refers to His personal form as Śrī Kṛṣṇa.
