Yak (याक) in Nepali refers to the animal Wild Yak (Bos mutus, from the Bos genus and Bovidae family). It is is mentioned as one of the “Protected animals of Nepal”.

The word Yak can also be transliterated as Yāk, Yāka or Yaka.
