Source: archive.org: Shiva Purana - English TranslationVinivṛttyartha (विनिवृत्त्यर्थ) refers to “desiring to ward off” (one’s feeling of chillness), according to the Śivapurāṇa 2.4.2 (“The birth of Śiva’s son”).—Accordingly, after Nārada spoke to Agni: “[...] O sage, the six ladies stubbornly insisted on going there to ward off their chillness (svaśīta-vinivṛttyartha) because they were deluded by Śiva’s magical art. Immediately the particles of the semen entered their bodies through the pores of hairs, O sage. The fire was relieved of their burning sensation. Vanishing immediately from the scene, Agni in the form of a flame, went back happily to his region, mentally remembering you and Śiva. [...]”.
