vēḍhaṇēṃ (वेढणें).—v c (vēṣṭana (S) To surround, encircle, environ, encompass. 2 To roll or wind around (a string &c.) 3 fig. To hem in; to beset; to press upon from all quarters--troubles, dangers &c. 4 (Usually vēḍhūna ghēṇēṃ) To wrap around (any garment or scrap of cloth) loosely and negligently. 5 fig. To embrace closely and completely; to occupy or take possession of thoroughly (a kingdom or country). 6 (esp. as v i) To be covered with writing--a sheet of paper &c.; to be fully taken up.
