Surleśvar is an archaeologically important site situated in Hangal-taluk (Dharwar district, Bombay), known for inscriptions regarding the ancient history of India. For example, at Surleśvar there is a slab in a garden outside the village which Refers to a gift of land as taḷavṛitti by  Mahāmaṇḍaleśvara Tailahadeva to the god Chikeśvara. In characters of about the 13th century.

There is also a stone set up in the court-yard of the Viraktamaṭha which seems to refer to the construction of the Viraktamaṭha by Doḍa Basappa. This inscription is dated Śaka 1701.
