A Muhammadan era introduced when its 745th year corresponded with the 745th year of the Hijra, or the 1344th year Christian; commencing therefore with 599 A. D. or 521 of the Shalivahana era. This year begins about 5th of June, at the Sun's entrance into the lunar asterism mṛga or mṛgaśīrṣa. It is otherwise called arabīsāla and mṛgasāla.
