śēkaṇēṃ (शेकणें) [or शेंकणें, śēṅkaṇēṃ].—v c ( H) To warm one's self before a fire: also to foment (a limb or member) with heated cloths, leaves, or medicaments. 2 fig. To affect with a loss (in some bargain or dealing); to burn. Besides this proper use there is a popular use making the word expressing the loss or burn (e. g. hāni, tōṭā, paikā, rupayē, vyāja, rakama, kāma) to be the subject of the verb; as mājhyā aṅgāvara or majavara sagaḷā paikā śēkalā or vyāja śēkalēṃ, instead of (as passively and elliptically construed) mī śēkalōṃ &c.
