General definition (in Hinduism)
Semnos (‘venerable’; σεμνός, semnos; also Simnoi).—We know that simultaneously with the birth of Buddhism, Buddhist sramanas were sent out to Greece, Asia minor, Egypt and other distant countires to preach their new religion.
