Sādhusomagaṇi (साधुसोमगणि) is the author of a commentary on the Caritrapañcaka by Jinavallabhasūri (dealing with Jain universal history such as the Jinas and related figures), which is included in the collection of manuscripts at the ‘Vincenzo Joppi’ library, collected by Luigi Pio Tessitori during his visit to Rajasthan between 1914 and 1919.—Sādhusomagaṇi in his commentary (vṛtti) quotes in full each Prakrit verse before explaining the literal meaning or elucidating also other points through the help of quotations from various texts. each section of the text is conceived as a distinct unit, with the commentator’s signature stanza repeated at the end of each (identical in the Mahāvīra section, see ld cat. appendix on Ser. no. 1968 p. 102). Sādhusomagaṇi belonged to the Kharataragaccha, Jinabhadrasūri’s branch. He was the pupil of Siddhāntaruci (mentioned in the initial verse) and composed this work in VS 1519 (1462 CE).

Among Sādhusomagaṇi’s other works are a Sanskrit commentary on Śrīcandra’s Bṛhatsaṃgrahaṇī (cf. Punyavijaya, Jesalmer collection p. 269 no. 1067, VS 1501) and one on Hemacandra Maladhārin’s Puṣpamālā (VS 1512, see Velankar).
