khōkaḍa (खोकड).—f A play amongst children. Commonly khōkhō.

khōkaḍa (खोकड) [or खोंकड, khōṅkaḍa].—f n The Indian fox. 2 Understood by some to be a female jackal. 3 Applied, metaphorically, (from fancied points of resemblance,) to a man, woman, cow, buffalo &c. aged and ugly, or decrepit, infirm, or sickly. 4 Hence too, esp. in the Konkan̤, applied to soil in the general sense of Sterile, arid, meagre, lean, poor, rocky, bad.
