khuṇṭa (खुंट).—m A stump (of a tree or bush, of a tail, a broom, of hair after shaving &c.) 2 A pile or stake driven (as into a river or the sea). 3 n The tip of a plough which receives the share, the spindle. 4 m The clot which forms during milking on the teat. 5 To make a sling or netting the strands or twists of a cord are pulled out laterally: of these the composing yarns are in like manner pulled out and twisted: these little twists or tails are severally called khuṇṭa. 6 A teat from which no milk flows, a blind teat. 7 A common term for the four corners of the earth. 8 n Applied to a stout-bodied, thick-set (cow, buffalo, and sometimes, woman). 9 m A middle-sized Plantainsucker or offshoot (whether as still adhering to the roots of its parent or as separated and planted). 10 The square or area formed by the meeting of four roads. 11 An end or a point of a street or road. 12 m fig. of first sense. A family or household, a stock: also an individual of it, a branch of the stock: also a descended fruit; a fruit the offspring of (i. e. of the stock of). 14 m (bugaḍīcā) The channel of the screw of the trinket bugaḍī. 15 m The stripe or bar-like seam into which are gathered the cunī or ruffles under the arm of an aṅgarakhā. 16 fig. of second sense. A stake to hold on by, i. e. a patron. 17 At blindman's buff, and at khōkaḍa or the play of khōkhō. The boy who covers the eyes of the boy personating Blindman.
