Kannigaipper is an archaeologically important site situated in Tiruvallur-taluk (Chingleput district, Madras), known for inscriptions regarding the ancient history of India. For example, at Kannigaipper there is a slab near the dilapi-dated Śiva temple which seems to record a sale of land made by the sabhā of Kaṇḍigaipperrūr to a certain Pṛthivirāma-śeṭṭi. This inscription in the Tamil language belongs to King Rājakēsarivarman of the Chola dynasty.

There are also four broken slabs near the same temple that registers an endowment of lamps to the image of Subrahmaṇya-Pillaiyār set up in the temple of Tiru-Akkīśura-muḍaiya-Nāyanār at Kanrigaipperūr by Madurānta-kam-uḍaiyān Śenāpatippillai. This inscription belongs to king Vijayagaṇḍagopāla.
