(-kaḥ) 1. The Hilsa or sable fish, (Clupanodon ilisha, Ham.) 2. Another kind of fish, commonly Caouchhi, (Cyprinus cachius Ham.) E. jala water, tapa to inflame, ṭhak affix; also with ṇini affix jalatāpin m. (-pī) The Hilsa.
