Source: Pali Kanon: Pali Proper NamesThe story of Illisa. The Jataka was related in reference to the conversion by Moggallana of the banker Maccharikosiya (q.v.) of Sakkhara.
Illisa of the past is identified with Macchariyakosiya (J.i.345ff).
The story is given as an example of iddhi by means of which Moggallana made a little thing increase manyfold. Vsm.ii.403.
