gulaḍā (गुलडा).—m The cross piece over the bailī (x) to which are attached the hither ends of the warp. It corresponds with jumpaṇī or jumpaṇēṃ, the bow-form member which receives the farther ends:--gulaḍā & jumpaṇī thus stretching and tightening the warp. 2 With other weavers gulaḍā is the bar running across the head of bailī. It has at each end a long loop (pēṇḍakēṃ or pēṇḍhēṃ or pēṇḍhī) which, its ends being passed through them, maintain in its position the sutārā (a cross stick running parallel with gulaḍā).
Marathi is an Indo-European language having over 70 million native speakers people in (predominantly) Maharashtra India. Marathi, like many other Indo-Aryan languages, evolved from early forms of Prakrit, which itself is a subset of Sanskrit, one of the most ancient languages of the world.
