1) [noun] propitiation of the village-god or goddess, planets etc. by offerings, to avoid, mitigate the distress believed to be or to have been, caused by them to the village.

2) [noun] ಗ್ರಾಮಶಾಂತಿಗಾಗಿ ತಳವಾರ ತಲೆಬೋಳಿಸಿಕೊಂಡ [gramashamtigagi talavara talebolisikomda] grāma śantigāgi taḷavāra tale bōḷisikoṇḍa (prov.) a proverb meaning that one sacrificed something for the welfare of others (often used sarc).
