ḍaṅkhīṇa (डंखीण).—f (ḍākinī S) A class of female imps or fiends, or an individual of it. Applied esp. to the women of the ṭhākūra caste, who are hideously ugly, and who deal in witchcraft &c. and as a term of reviling to old women gen.; corresponding with Hag, witch, beldam, fury, fright, malkin.
