jakhīṇa (जखीण) [or जंखीण, jaṅkhīṇa].—f jakhīna f An individual of an order of female goblins. They are ghosts of women who died in child-birth, or who drowned themselves. Hence the word is used as our words Fury, fright, hag, witch, beldam, malkin; and applied to an old and ugly woman gen. See ḍaṅkhīṇa.
