(-naḥ) Producing each other; a condition of the three guṇa or qualities sattva, rajas and tamas qq. vv. ‘as a lump of clay produces a jar’; comp. also anyonyamithuna, anyonyābhibhava, anyonyāśraya, anyonyavṛtti. [In the Sāṅkhyakārikā v. 12, where these terms occur ‘anyonyābhibhavāśrayajananamithunavṛttayaśca guṇāḥ’ Vāchaspati combines vṛtti with each of the former and analyses therefore anyonyābhibhavavṛtti &c., while Gauḍapāda takes anyonyavṛtti for a separate condition.] E. anyonya and janana.
