Anurūpaka (अनुरूपक) refers to “appropriate” (i.e., ‘that which is appropriate to another thing’), according to the Kiraṇatantra chapter 49 (dealing with vratacaryā).—Accordingly, “Garuḍa spoke: ‘You have taught me, O great Lord, the activities of the Neophyte, the Putraka and the Ācārya. Tell me those of the Sādhaka’. The Lord spoke: ‘[...] The highest of the observances is the Raudra-vrata. On accomplishing that, one becomes [equal to] the Sakala [form of Śiva]. For attaining siddhi, the Sādhaka should perform a mantra-observance that is appropriate (anurūpaka) [to the mantra in question]’”.
