Source: Shodhganga: Kasyapa Samhita—Text on Visha ChikitsaAṅgadūṣaṇī (अङ्गदूषणी) or Aṅgadūṣaṇīvidyā refers to a certain procedure “for the self-defense of the aspirant to subjugate and paralyse serpents”, as described in the Kāśyapa Saṃhitā: an ancient Sanskrit text from the Pāñcarātra tradition dealing with both Tantra and Viṣacikitsā—an important topic from Āyurveda which deals with the study of Toxicology (Viṣavidyā or Sarpavidyā). The Aṅgadūṣaṇī-vidyā is enunciated along with a few mantras to eschew poisons of rats, scorpion and so on. along with the methodology to be followed. This vidyā include the Ānandapañcaka-mantra. Kāśyapasaṃhitā (VI.50-2) also talks about using the Ātmarakṣā-Aṅgaduṣani-mantras to safeguard oneself by placing some mantrākṣaras on some specific body parts of the aspirant such as navel, heart, joints, and so on. which give him protection like a shield and empower him to literally play with snakes.
