Hollowness

Muktibodh Gajanan Madhav (Rendered from Hindi by Chandrakant Raje)

MUKTIBODH GAJANAN MADHAV
(Rendered from Hindi by CHANDRAKANT RAJE)

The inner hollowness
has a jaw
wherein flesh-cutter teeth prevail
will cut them
will cut you.
Within the want of habitual indignation
our nature sustains life,
in the jaw’s dark drench
the lake of blood exists.
That hollow is
totally dark, barbarous, naked
wanting in, wicked
busy with itself.
To that I stimulate
with words and works
spread it over
distributing.

Those who follow my path,
in the wounds I got
find the same hollow.

They increase it spreading,
distributing, by scattering it in the multitude
creating a progeny of hollows.
Everlasting
fertilizer by its nature.
Everywhere a saw, a sword and a sickle
is produced and sharpened
by that flesh-cutter.
So if you look anywhere
the people are knocking against each other,
the game is going on,
new babies of death are born.
At every place dangerous errors are committed,
and army’s blunder thunder,
the world looks at it and moves with terror.
