Sanskrit text, Unicode transliteration and English translation of verse 3.12.11:
क्रियाविशेषवचने सामर्थ्यमुपरुध्यते ।
केषाञ्चदन्ये तु कृताः स्वरितेतो ञितस्तथा ॥ ११ ॥kriyāviśeṣavacane sāmarthyamuparudhyate |
keṣāñcadanye tu kṛtāḥ svariteto ñitastathā || 11 ||11. Some roots have not got the capacity to convey a meaning which is susceptible of arrangements being made for it. Others have been marked with the svarita accent or ñ indicators.
Commentary
[P. 1.3.72 has been declared unnecessary in the M. Bhā. Why then does the ātmanepada suffix not come after other roots also like yā? The reason is that the meaning of words is fixed. Those roots the meanings of which are capable of arrangements being made for them are marked with the svarita accent or with ñ in the Dhātupāṭha.
