Verse 3.8.49
Sanskrit text, Unicode transliteration and English translation of verse 3.8.49:
तत्र यं प्रति साध्यत्वमसिद्धा तं प्रति क्रिया ।
सिद्धा तु यस्मिन् साध्यत्वं न तमेव पुनः प्रति ॥ ४९ ॥tatra yaṃ prati sādhyatvamasiddhā taṃ prati kriyā |
siddhā tu yasmin sādhyatvaṃ na tameva punaḥ prati || 49 ||49. That in relation to which action is a process, it is not a thing in relation to that, that in relation to which it is a thing, it is not a process in relation to that.
Commentary
[As action is a process in relation to the accessories, it is not accomplished and is expressed by the root. In relation to the meaning of a primary suffix, it is a thing and not a process. Therefore, there is no association with accessories.]
