The Chaitanya Bhagavata 2.23.220, English translation, including a commentary (Gaudiya-bhasya). This text is similair to the Caitanya-caritamrita and narrates the pastimes of Lord Caitanya, proclaimed to be the direct incarnation of Krishna (as Bhagavan) This is verse 220 of Madhya-khanda chapter 23—“Wandering about Navadvipa On the Day the Lord Delivered the Kazi”.

ঠাঞি ঠাঞি এই মতে মেলি’ দশ-পাঞ্চে কেহ গায, কেহ বা’য, কেহ মাঝে নাচে ॥ ২২০ ॥

ठाञि ठाञि एइ मते मेलि’ दश-पाञ्चे केह गाय, केह वा’य, केह माझे नाचे ॥ २२० ॥

ṭhāñi ṭhāñi ei mate meli’ daśa-pāñce keha gāya, keha vā’ya, keha mājhe nāce || 220 ||

thani thani ei mate meli’ dasa-pance keha gaya, keha va’ya, keha majhe nace (220)

English translation:

(220) At various places along the way, five or ten people would gather together, with some singing, some playing instruments, and some dancing in their midst.

Commentary: Gauḍīya-bhāṣya by Śrīla Bhaktisiddhānta Sarasvatī Ṭhākura:

The word vā’ya means “to play an instrument.”
