Verse 1.14.12

দুঃখীরে দেখিলে প্রভু বড দযা করি’ অন্ন, বস্ত্র, কডি-পাতি দেন গৌরহরি ॥ ১২ ॥

दुःखीरे देखिले प्रभु बड दया करि’ अन्न, वस्त्र, कडि-पाति देन गौरहरि ॥ १२ ॥

duḥkhīre dekhile prabhu baḍa dayā kari’ anna, vastra, kaḍi-pāti dena gaurahari || 12 ||

duhkhire dekhile prabhu bada daya kari’ anna, vastra, kadi-pati dena gaurahari (12)

English translation:

(12) Whenever Gaurahari met a poor person, He would immediately give him rice, cloth, and money out of compassion.

Commentary: Gauḍīya-bhāṣya by Śrīla Bhaktisiddhānta Sarasvatī Ṭhākura:

The principle of magnanimity is found in the nature of brāhmaṇas, while the principle of miserliness is found in the nature of non-brāhmaṇas. In order to exhibit the pastimes of an ideal householder, Nimāi donated rice, cloth, and wealth to the poor and distressed people.
