Vaṉpuṟai (வன்புறை) noun < வன்புறு-. [vanpuru-.]

1. (Akapporul) Assurance, comfort, given by a lover to his beloved; தலைவியைத் தலைவன் ஆற்றி வற்புறுத் துகை. வன்புறை குறித்தல் [thalaiviyaith thalaivan arri varpuruth thugai. vanpurai kurithal] (தொல். பொ. [thol. po.] 185).

2. (Akapporul) Theme in which the heroine is comforted by her companions and friends, during her separation from the hero; தலைவன் பிரிவின் கண் வாயில்கள் தலைவியை ஆற்றுவித்தலைக் கூறும் அகத்துறை. [thalaivan pirivin kan vayilkal thalaiviyai arruvithalaig kurum agathurai.] (இறையனாரகப் பொருள் [iraiyanaragap porul] 53.)
