2. Feudatory prince; commander; சாமந்தன். நாற்படை வன்னியர் [samanthan. narpadai vanniyar] (கல்லாடம் [kalladam] 37, 15).
3. Caste-title among certain castes, as the Kaḷḷar, Valaiyar, etc.; கள்ளர் வலையர் முதலிய சில சாதியாரின் பட்டப் பெயர் [kallar valaiyar muthaliya sila sathiyarin pattap peyar] (E. T. vii, 321.)
